Providence is filled with amazing dinner restaurants, pizza places, cafes, brunch spots and sandwich shops but if you’re an underclassman like me or an upper class-man without a car it can be difficult to escape from Ray Dining Hall. And who wants to spend the extra money on an uber? But you’re in luck because Providence College has great eats within in walking distance. Save money, get a little workout in, eat good food.. what more could you ask for? Check out these five hot spots that Providence College students can’t seem to stay away from:

 1. La Salle Bakery

La Salle Bakery is one of my personal favorites. Wake up a friend on a beautiful Spring Sunday morning and walk down Admiral Street to La Salle before before hitting the books at Club Phil (the library). The coffee and breakfast sandwiches are an absolute must, and of course a pastry to go for later (or on the walk back).

2. Papa Paulie’s

If you’re looking for more of a sit down spot, grab a group of friends and head to Papa Paulie’s for breakfast. It’s a great little hole in the wall diner to cure your hangover with good food and some laughs about the weekend events. You can never go wrong with the great prices and a stack of pancakes for the table.

 3. The Abbey

If you’re looking for a nice and casual dinner with the squad, I would definitely recommend The Abbey, right across from La Salle. The burgers are to die for and I hear the craft beer’s are great too! Sounds like you definitely couldn’t going wrong with that! combo. Also a fun tip: every Tuesday night is 50 cent wing night…can you say amazing?

4. Anthony’s Italian Deli

In the mood for a really delicious sandwich? Anthony’s Deli is the perfect place for you! Also located on Admiral Street, Anthony’s serves up some loaded sandwiches, like the buffalo chicken sandwich pictured below. The sandwich looks great but tastes even better!

5. Golden Crust

Whether it be 3:00 a.m on Saturday or 12:00 in the afternoon a Tuesday, I always have pizza on my mind. After a night out with friends or a random week day, Golden Crust is always a go to to walk down to Oakland and grab a quick bite of buffalo chicken pizza and mac and cheese bites. Rumor has it you’ll always leave with a smile.
